Facility
The Center of ART, with about 1600-m2 area, is located on a dedicated 4th floor of the newly built TEQIP building. The view through the windows is that of the pleasing surrounding town of Tumkur and the inviting mountains off the Shri Siddaganga Matt. It is a serene area in the center of the campus that provides ample solitude and all the facilities for the creative minds.
The floor plan consists of clean rooms (class 100, class 10,000 and class 1,00,000) for the R&D work as well as ample "non-clean" room area for faculty and student offices, classrooms, a reception area, and a cafeteria. The "clean room project" is now in progress and the laboratories will be ready by December 2012. Various equipment and tools are now being put together. The entire facility and the lab equipment are by and large indigenous.
The nano-materials fabrication and processing equipment capabilities range from depositions (PVD, CVD, MOCVD) and high-temperature furnace processing (diffusion, oxidation, sintering) to nano range lithography printing and etching. Evolving state-of-the-art morphological, electrical, microwave, mechanical, and optical characterization tools complement these equipment capabilities.
