SIT is one of the 14 Engineering colleges of Karnataka State selected by Governament of India for providing an aid of Rs. 10 Crores (100 Million) for the all round development of the college under TEQIP. TEQUIP is supported by World Bank and 30% of the amount is considered as grant and 70% is a loan which is to be paid back in 20 years period with 8% interest. |

The Technical Education quality Improvement Programme of Governament of India (TEQIP) conceived in pursuance of the National Policy on Education (NPE)-1986 (as revised in 1992). The programme aims to upscale & support on going efforts of GOI to improve quality of technical education & enhance existing capacities of the institutions to become dynamic, demand-driven, quality concious, efficient & forward looking, responsive to rapid economic & technological developments occuring both at national & international levels.
The broad objectives of the programme are to create an environment in which engineering institutions selected under the Programme can achieve their own set targets for excellence & sustain the same with autonomy & accountability, support development plans including synergistic networking & services to community & economy for achieving higher standards, & to improve efficiency & effectiveness of the technical education managment system. The effort would provide a flexible platform to well performing institutions to aquire excellence in specialised areas & emerge as world class institutions.
The programme components are: Component-I: Institutional Development will undertake
- Promotion of academic excellence in institutions
- Networking for quality enhancement & resource sharing
- Services to community & industry;

SIT is selected as Network Institution with NIT-K, Surathkal as lead institution & Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Engineering & Technology, Dharwad as another Network Institute in the same cluster. At the institutional level the program is manged by

For the periodic Performance Audit of the Programme the SPFU has nominated Prof. D.K. Subramanyam of IISc. Bangalore as Mentor & Prof. L.M. Patnaik as Auditor.
Since the implementation of the Programme after signing MOU with Karnataka Governament several academic activities, augmentation programmes relating to upgradation of laboratories, reinforcing computer infrastructure & purchase of library books & learning resources have been under take & completed.
